Normalization policy towards the family: marriage and partnership in Russia

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the analysis of policy towards civil marriage as an element of state normalization of family. The policy of partnership and registered marriage is traced throughout the Soviet period as well as in contemporary Russian society. The author points out the contradictory tendencies of marginalization of unregistered unions at the level of official discourse and tolerance to the partnerships at the level of everyday attitudes and practices that are typical for today's Russia
