The Notion of Pre-Marital Chastity Between the Engaged Till the Celebration of the Sacrament of Matrimony

Summary/Abstract: Straipsnyje nagrinėjama problema, kad santuokos netvarumo prielaida – susituokti ketinančių asmenų paviršutiniška santuokos esmės samprata. Santuokinis skaistumas, kurį apibūdina trys pagrindiniai komponentai: santuokinis aktas, abipusis savęs dovanojimas ir atvirumas gyvybei, yra esminė sąlyga santuokos savybėms – vienumui ir neišardomumui – įgyvendinti ir palaikyti. Darbas pagrindžiamas empiriniu kiekybiniu tyrimu „Sužadėtinių santuokinio skaistumo samprata“, kurio tiriamieji – sužadėtiniai, Sužadėtinių rengimo Santuokos sakramentui programos Lietuvos vyskupijų šeimos centruose dalyviai. Tyrimo duomenims apdoroti taikyta koreliacinė analizė, leidusi palyginti praktikuojančių ir nepraktikuojančių katalikų požiūrį į santuokinį skaistumą. Koreliacijos dydžiui nusakyti pateikiama statistinės paklaidos tikimybė p, rodanti statistinės paklaidos dydį. Darbe pristatyti tyrimo rezultatai leidžia konstatuoti, jog sužadėtiniai nesupranta santuokinio skaistumo esmės. The article deals with the problem that one of the reasons of marriage instability lies in a rather shallow understanding of its essence revealed in the people intending to marry. Marital chastity, as characterised by three major components: the marital act, the mutual self-donation and overtion towards new life, is the crucial condition for marriage features – unity and indissolubility – to fulfil and exercise. The research is supported by the empiric quantitative analysis “The Notion of Marital Chastity between the Engaged”, where the respondents are the engaged couples, as well as the participants of the Family centres of Lithuanian dioceses in frames of the programme “The Preparation of the Engaged for the Sacrament of Matrimony”. For the data processing the method of correlational analysis has been applied which allowed to compare the views of practising and non-practising Catholics towards the question of marital chastity. To identify the correlation level, the statistical error probability indicator p has been used, showing the scope of statistical error. The final results of the research allow making a statement that most of the engaged do not understand the essence of marital chastity.
