PRESS IN THE THIRTIES

Summary/Abstract: In the thirties in Albania were issued a considerable number of newspapers and magazines, closely following political, social and cultural life of the country. Number of newspapers and magazines is great, but we will point out only some of the most important ones: Minerva, Ora Illyria, Drita, Zani i Naltë, Demokracia, Hylli i dritës, Leka, Tomori, Bashkimi i Kombit, Fryma, Fashizmi,Tomori i vogël, Bota e re, Përpjekja shqiptare, etc., while outside of Albania there were issued: Albania, Drita, Dielli, Kombi etc. Characteristics of this period was continuance of political and philosophical thought from the period of the National Renaissance and Albanian national awakening, which in those years underwent an unexampled renewal. Creative works in the publications were those that had an impact on information and education of the people. Thinkers of this time like Mehdi Frashëri, Gjergj Fishta, Faik Konica, Noli, Ismet Toto, Tajar Zavalani, Krist Maloki, Anton harapi, Branko Merxhani, Vangjel Koça, Nebil Çika, Xhuzepe Valentini, Ernest Koliqi, Nonda Bulka, and some others were turned to spokesmen of the time, and to moral and intellectual supporters of the people and for new institutions of the Albanian state. The history of press in the thirties is the same as the history of Albania, and if we want to know the history of that time, the best way to comprehend it is to study the press of that time.
