Summary/Abstract: In the article, the notion of elitist egalitarianism in Cabaret of Older Gentlemen is discussed on three levels. One concerns the stage reality, where no division into better or worse characters exists. The second one refers to the role the Cabaret played in the communicative reality of The People’s Republic of Poland, in which it functioned as a mythical tale. Finally, the third one regards the long-lasting existence of the Cabaret in the contemporary cultural code (cultural events including festivals, contests, performances and publications as well as the Internet). The article ends with a series of famous quotes (so called “winged words”) popularly used and existent in the minds of the Cabaret’s audience.
