Summary/Abstract: The Second Vatican Council was one of the most important ecclesiastical events of the 20th century. It was a pastoral council, not a dogmatic one. Yet it had a great impact on the life of the Catholic Church. The infl uence of the council was diminished in Romania by the fact the the communist regime did not allow much religious activity. But the council had an impact on the life of the seminarians in Alba Iulia. They studied the documents of the council and tried to build their future priestly life in accordance with the teaching of the Second Vatican Council.
