MITROVICA AND LEAGUE OF PEJA IN THE REPORTS OF SERBIAN CONSUL’S FROM PRISHTINA

Summary/Abstract: The crisis of Crete in the 1897 and the defeat of Greece, show one more time, that the freedom of one nation, was partly in cost of another not protected nation, in this case Albanians. So, Albanian were alarmed and very afraid that one more time, will reaped the disaster of 1878. For this reason, they organized the League of Peja in 1899, with the request to protect themselves from the aggressive neighbors of Kingdom of Serbia, Greece and Bulgarian. In the way to compromised the Albanian League, Serbs organized incidents in Peja and Mitrovica, and provoke the reaction of common Albanian people against the Serbian minority. So, like yesterday also today, the Serbian state policy is not focus in the building of each other understandings and cope-ration’s, but on the contrary, in the deepening the hate and misunder-standings between the Albanian and Serbian nations.
