Summary/Abstract: We are specifically interested in how previous research investigated linguistic features of blogging and changes in the participants’ academic literacy development, social norms bearing on blogging practice, market-related constraints operating on the space of personal weblogging, the importance of interactivity on the internet and on weblogs, transformative uses of blogging as a social and cultural practice, and meanings that bloggers ascribe to the practice of personal weblogging. The findings of this study have implications for developing academic literacies through mediation of blogging, social interactions in the blog-mediated literacy practice, framings of weblogging as a tool for self-exploration, the revelation of sensitive social information in blogging practices, the focal students’ blog-mediated academic literacy development, and the meanings of potential interactions between bloggers and their readers.
