Summary/Abstract: Perceived by certain critics as a satire of political dictatorship, La Leçon also reveals Ionesco’s strong condemnation of sexual domination and abuse. My approach is to demonstrate that La Leçon is the story of a failed sexual encounter, escalated into rape due to the male’s inability to understand the dynamics of female sexuality.
