Johnson holds that the mass culture is getting more intellectually demanding. Hardt claims that the media shape consciousness and help reinforce the dominant corporate ideology. Freedman identifies the scale of the economic problems faced by traditional news providers and discusses some of the strategies adopted by organizations to cope with an insecure environment.
