Summary/Abstract: Overall, throughout this paper, we demonstrate the value and importance of the practices and meanings of television, of the rise of citizen media, and of the transformation of news in an age of technological and ownership convergence. Donsbach remarks that journalism is facing several challenges: a declining audience for the news, the increasing market pressures impacting news decisions, the declining reputation of the profession, and the loss of identity that the journalistic occupation is facing. Zuckerman points out that papers tend to run the wire stories rather than performing original reporting, and that leads to enormous duplication between news sources (counting the foreign news stories available through Google News is not a valid metric). Driscoll claims that the foray by content providers into online distribution of news raises legal and policy issues for both traditional news media outlets and other news¸distributors.
