Summary/Abstract: As the title itself shows, the main aim of our investigation was to point out the important part of Greek-Catholic tradition in the process of reconstitution the Greek-Catholic community in Maieru. Of a great help were the testimonies of those living in Maieru. We were helped by 16 interviewees; 4 of them were clandestine Catholics even after 1948: 9 came back to Catholicism after 1989: 3 are still Orthodox. Although in 1948 the Greek-Catholic church was abolished by communism, in Maieru still existed an important Greek-Catholic community (about 30 believers): they did not give up to their liturgy surviving to all oppressions. In the church of Maieru, which became an Orthodox one in 1948, they preserved up to the 60s the sacred furniture, by the help of Orthodox priests; believers continued their specific Greek-Catholic prayer. This perpetual Greek-Catholic tradition within and without Orthodox church led, after 1989, to a great process of regeneration of Greek-Catholic Church in Maieru.
