Summary/Abstract: Genealogy is a research tool used by historians, etnographs and antropologists. It can be reconstituted on the base of written documents or the so-called "family histories" kept in the memory of successivc generations. We took into consideration the latter because a well-made genealogy consists not only of written papers but also of sensitive memory of the one who recall and also tell a vivid story. A "written" genealogy looked like a map, a "told" genealogy stands for the third dimension because of its oral, subjective and selective part. This one becomes important when the individual discourse and a family memory intersected the collective memory regarding either social or political aspects. Moreover, taking into account that an individual memory could recall three to seven generations, this "told" genealogy could prove its use for an ethnologic or historical research.
