The Anticommunist Resistance Movement in Huedin Area "Cross and Sword" Organization

Summary/Abstract: There were an important number of groups that activated in Huedin area, some focused on organizing an armed resistance, some acting with a great tenacity against Communist authorities. Such an attempt was the one initiated by a group of legionaries, who had come from Bucharest, and got on their side the natives of the villages that belonged to Huedin area. They founded the organization called "Cross and sword", having as target the setting up of a paramilitary force, which also had the support of an significant number of natives, that were to act accordingly, in case of an American-Russian conflict meant to annihilate the Communist regime. In order to accomplish that, they went on sabotaging and intimidating the aria's authorities, building shelters etc. Due to a leak of information, Security organized a vast action, which had as a result the arresting of all group members and of those who had been helping them (over 40 persons).
