Summary/Abstract: The 4th Photography festival was organized in Lódz. It was sponsored by the Nikon Company. Also in Lódz, they every year organize a festival of camera operators entitled Camerimage. The fourth edition of the photo festival concentrated on showing quality, and not controversial work by artists from many different countries. The most surprising exhibition was organized by the FAMU group from Prague. The members of that renown school showed standardized work. Polish schools seemed to be following the Czech example, because they didn’t show many original work of art. Alexandra Kubik showed exceptionally good pictures. She used a pinhole camera to produce a series of anecdotal and ironic photographs entitled ‘Mythologies’. She added her own commentary based on Augeas, Orpheus, Dionysius, and Icarus stories. Dominika Mróz and Aniela Imiela showed a series entitled ‘Women of all Trades’. Dorota Walentynowicz entitled her work ‘My Small Patriotism’. Marta Kochanek documented childbirth, and and Agnieszka K³os showed bold nude studies. The most unconventional photographs were shown by such artists as Veronika Zapletalova, Pavel Banka, Jan Bujnowski, Krzysztof Zieliñski and Tomas Pospech. The most expressive, and the most popular work was shown by Naomi Harris and Karine Laval. Harris documented weekend activities of average Americans. Laval documented leisure activities at swimming pools in France, Portugal, Spain and Cuba.
