Summary/Abstract: This article examines parliamentarism in the independent Republic of Estonia, between the years 1918-1940. We begin with an overview of the political development and constitutional framework of the period. We then proceed to an analysis of representative assemblies and their composition, political parties, election results, the socio-demographic composition of the Members of Parliament, and finally relations of the Parliament with other state institutions.
