Summary/Abstract: The article analyze to what extent (if any) the process of European integration resembles processes of nation-building with their linguistic consequences, whether the obstacles to the process of European integration are somehow related to the language issue, what are reactions of and in memberstates to this process: whether European integration is perceived as threat to or as a protection of national and ethno-regional identities and languages.
