Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the economic situation of Tulcea County between November 1947 and May 1948 as it emerges from previously unknown sources, the reports sent by the management of the Tulcea NBR subsidiary to the Governor of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest between the 9th of January and the 9th of June 1948. Copies of the documents have been kept in the Special NBR Report Register, no. 962/1934, deposited in private archives. Relying on a wealth of information provided by various state institutions, the five economic reports contain a detailed description of the agricultural situation and a brief account of the state of commerce, industry, trades, fishing, mining and forest exploitation, weather conditions and the state of mind of Tulcea County residents in the autumn of 1947 and the spring of 1948.
