Summary/Abstract: In the United Nations Charter, 1945, the institution of human rights was defined in the provisions found in the Preamble of the Charter and the content of Articles 1, 13, 55, 56, 62 and 76. The frequency of them being mentioned in the Charter indicates that the promoters felt that international human rights standards could be developed. The contents of the Preamble states that people need to reaffirm: „faith in fundamental human rights, the dignity and worth of human beings, in the equal rights of men and women ...”.
