Summary/Abstract: The unique geopolitic environment of the Baltic Sea region has been of special importance in Europe. Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia (Kaliningrad region – the subject of the Russian Federation), Poland, and Germany are situated within this space and have the population of 153 million (together with 1 million of people inhabiting the Kaliningrad region). They are all linked together geographically by the Baltic Sea, historical past (continuous continental, regional and national conflicts), the reality of today and future forecasts. The below essay is aimed at evaluating the state of security of the Baltic Sea region from the perspective of this particular area as well as from the EU’s point of view.
