Summary/Abstract: The concept of beauty at Socrates, Plato and Aristotle – the abstract of the doctoral thesis of Dumitru Isac (with an introduction by Ionut Isac). Dumitru Isac (1914–1984) has been a well-known specialist in Modern European philosophy (especially the German classic époque, beginning with Kant). His interest on Greek philosophy came out along with a lot of works dedicated to aesthetics, ethics as well as to the history of philosophy. In time, he became one of the most appreciated Romanian specialists in the history of ancient Greek philosophy. The abstract of his doctoral thesis (defended in 1971), which is published beneath, fully shows both the intellectual passion and the thorough analysis of the status of beauty in the ancient Greek philosophy, from the reflections of Socrates up to the highest ancient metaphysical elaborations of the classical age in Greece, belonging to Plato and Aristotle.
