Geotourism development in Poland and possibilities for its adaptation to social tourism

Summary/Abstract: Earth heritage provides a potential for tourism development. Geotourism − a new form of tourism realizing sustainable development, provides opportunities to be adapted to social tourism. Geotourism features both educational and cognitive values, taking advantage from geodiversity of Poland and low costs of geotourism implementation, make it corresponding to the needs of many social groups benefiting from social tourism. An additional advantage of incorporating geotourism to social tourism is the beneficial impact to the abiotic environment protection by taking care of geosites and adapting them to social tourism requirements.
