Summary/Abstract: General Józef Chłopicki understood that tsar's Russia was militarily too storng for the Polish to start a war against it. They would not approve of this view in the years 1830 and 1831, when they were determined to fight for freedom. Therefore, as a dictator, he led them towards talks with the Russian occupants. In order to prove the thesis, Chłopicki's rhetoric has been analyzed on the material of his annoucement in Warsaw press. The article adds to the works of November Uprising historians, by revealing the General's persuasive attitude.
