Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the effect of the Second World War on the development of psychiatry in Serbia and Yugoslavia. It analyzes the war-related situations, reactions, conditions and experiences of both victims and perpetrators, noted in case files and psychiatric discussions, which may have led Yugoslav psychiatrists to re-consider their previously solid beliefs in the hereditary and constitutional nature of schizophrenia
