Summary/Abstract: Young men and women raised in from a public institutional child caree background are among the most economically and socially excluded groups face high risks of social and economic deprivation in European nations. This study covers three key issues. Firstly, it deals with the issue of how the situation of children living in and leaving from the public institutional child care protection system is addressed appear in the Hungarian and the international strategies and policy papersapproaches. Secondly, itI attemptsted to provideobtain an insight into both the Hungarian and the international research agenda which are related to the situation of children and young adults in public institutionalchild care. In Hungary, there has not been much research that deals with children who were brought up in institutionalpublic child care. Consequently, we do not know much, for instance, about the school career, job progress, or the founding of a family in the case of young adults leaving from institutionalpublic child careof those who were in care. However, many international studies point out that those who were in public care tend to suffer from social discrimination and often fail to cope with their disadvantageous situation. Finally, on the basis of of Hungarian interviews made in Hungary within thethe framework of the Yippeean international research project, itI examines the key factors influencing the school performance of for young adults ’ appearance in higher education. The I aim tois to analyze demonstrate what types of endogenous and exogenous factors influenceed the educational career of these persons. What do endogenous and exogenous factors mean? By that, I hope to look for answers as to what kind of considerations explore the policy measures are needed to provide holistic, comprehensive support for children and young people in public institutional child care in order to achieve better educational credentialsattainments.
