Summary/Abstract: This research aims at analysing the text production of students from a Brazilian public school, inserted in the educational system of the Rio de Janeiro state, located at the outskirts of the town, in order to understand, through their written texts, their expectations regarding what is to be succeeded. The results point to the perception that, in constructing different ways of accessing the education as a dream, the students a) put in evidence one of the main forms of class division, the one that separates those who have from those who do no have access to education; b) they discursively reify the perception that the education is a commodity as, for instance a house or a car, but c) they usually don’t know how to get or what to do with this good.
