Summary/Abstract: We aim to add to the understanding of the provision and export methods of KIBS firms and how such methods shape these firms’ location decision. Based on a case study made for the region of Galicia (Spain), our results indicate that the method used for providing services depends upon the nature of the KIBS activity. The provision method determines the factors explaining localisation of companies and the importance placed on geographical proximity to clients. Those companies using telematics for service provision are less likely to consider proximity important. Nevertheless, even in the case in which services may be provided by telematic means, proximity plays a major role in KIBS companies’ location decision.
