Summary/Abstract: This text captures some aspects of the activity of Metropolitan Nicolae Colan in Cluj, as Bishop, focusing on his accomplishments in church administration, as well as in the economic, cultural and missionary-social fi elds. The article refers to the activity of Metropolitan Nicolae Colan in Cluj during four important time periods: 1936-1940 (a reach and peaceful time), 1940-1944 (the Hortyst occupation—the worst time in the history of this diocese), 1944-1947 (a time of intense activity to redress the situation of the diocese in Cluj), and 1947-1957 (harsh times, yet, fl ourishing, coinciding with the reinstatement of the Communist regime in Romania). Bishop Nicolae Colan is one of the most important fi gures of the Romanian Christianity, due to his accomplishments; he made communication possible between religions and ethnic groups, for the use of the Church and of our Nation—both subjects of the Bishop’s sacrifi ce and devotion
