Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with a famous Swedish author, «expert on Russia» and agent of the Swedish Crown Petrus Petrejus (ca. 1570–1622). The chronology of his journeys to Russia in 1601–1613 is traced and connections of his authorship with the aims of the Swedish propaganda are analysed. A hypothesis is offered that Petrejus’ opus magnum «Regni Muschovitici sciographia» (1615), usually believed to be relatively objectivistic and impartial, in its first version had to do more with propaganda and with the plans of electing prince Karl Filip a Russian tsar. In conclusion, a much less known «Relation om Gustavo K. Erichs Son», almost certainly also written by Petrejus and characteristic of his propagandistic style, is considered.
