Current Trends in Psychological Research on Deception

Summary/Abstract: The article presents selected current trends in psychological studies on deception. It reports on the results of the research conducted by Polish authors, who verified and developed the concepts of modern leaders of the research on deception, such as Paul Ekman, Bella DePaulo and Aldert Vrij. Over the last few years the research has focused on the phenomenon of high accuracy of lie detection by prisoners and teenagers from pathological environments, on Machiavellian aspects of personalities of liars and persons accurately detecting lies as well as on the perception of facial expressions.
