Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to the issue of social economy, i.e. a sector that includes economic entities such as cooperatives, social enterprises, nonprofit organizations and charities. The author discusses the importance of the social economy sector, its legal background and main obstacles to the growth. In conclusion, the author looks at the prospects for development of the social economy in Poland.
