Summary/Abstract: As globalisation advances and technological progress makes the labor market more volatile, structural changes are needed to make more effective employment policies aiming to increase employability or ability to insert socioprofessional job seekers. The Tunisian state has long used an employment policy to solve the unemployment problem. However, with technological change and the world economic integration, employment policies, in Tunisia, experienced a significant shift and their orientation has expended to cover different categories of sectors and beneficiaries. The aim of this paper is twofold: First is to study the evolution of employment policies in Tunisia. Second, is to show the opportunities and the ability of these policies to absorb additional demand for job and facilitate the integration of massive flows of graduates. It appears from this study that the orientation of the strategy of active employment policies have only partly succeeded in moderating the labor cycles, reduce structural imbalances and improve the functioning of the labor market. The obvious conclusion is that indeed, the employment strategy but without a proper macroeconomic framework and a good knowledge of the labor market, these policies can hardly be effective.
