Summary/Abstract: The study investigates the status of democracy in the age of information societies. During the analysis, the author sheds light on the boundaries of the democratic institutions, how networks reinforce the excercising of democratic liberties, and what their future development still hold for us. He attempts to show how politics influence democratic rights. His paper also reviews how main ICT scholars think about democracy, detailing their visions and theories. Finally, he tries to reveal how and why politics fell behind the techno-cultural milieu of IT societies.
