Summary/Abstract: The article has been inspired by Braudel's and Lévi-Strauss' research on cultural patterns of eating and regarding dining table as one of the means of interpersonal communication. On the basis of the source texts of the second half of the 20th century, the author analyzes the contemporary plebeian and labour cuisine of Silesia and Zagłębie. The cuisine is being analyzed through the perspective of the differences resulting from interference of different cultural traditions. The discourse is strictly located in historical background.
