Summary/Abstract: Drafting of a Constitution for Europe raised several controversial topics. One of them is a question whether the text of the document should include the reference to God and Christendom. The subsequent article analyses the debatě and arguments of both supporters and opponents of this inclusion and compares similar provisions in the constitutions of selected EU member states. The text also identifies possible difficulties that the inclusion of God or Christendom in the Constitutions preamble may cause.
