Summary/Abstract: The Polish Question, as an international question, appears in the late 18th century with the three partitions of the Polish kingdom (1772, 1793 and 1795), ending with its destruction. For the first time in modern and monarchic Europe, one of its old components is erased by imperial powers’ partitions. Nothing has stopped brute force. Even if these events occur in Eastern Europe, the European balance of power is rocked. Poland’s destruction is something like a European crime. The Polish Question is tabled: Can Europe live without an independent Poland? Or does Europe need a Polish state?
