Summary/Abstract: The study presents the ancient practice of ringing a church's bells to temper the destruction of hail and cyclones and the force of tempests and lightning. At the end of the 19th century there was a dispute on this issue between the sub prefect of the Udvarhely county and the local priests, upon a prohibition he released concearning the ringing of the bells before a thunderstorme. The prohibition resulted in several complaints sent to the bishop of Transilvania, wchich were promptly answered by the office manager, and not by the bishop. We must think that with his answer the problem was solved as there are no more documents related to this conflict.
