The intertextuality theory practitioners leave the text open for interpretation. The forces of reader participate in the process of recognition and interpretation of quotes, insertions, links and allusions as well as creation of cognitive summary of the text. In this article is used method, elaborated by Gérard Genette, which define connections between two texts and proves that metonymical approach prevails in the novels of S. T. Kondratas and M. Kundera. In texts of S.T.Kondrotas and M.Kundera dominated similarity of interyextual access, rather than transformation. Processes of emergence of sense are related to the fact that intertextual reading help to open and expose relationship between structure, analogies and shifts. Both metaphorical and metonymically text reading strategies helps to reveal the position of text in context of literature, heritage and tradition. In texts, written in the same time, but by authors from different countries, we can discover synthesized civilization experience.
