"Dirty" Jokes

Summary/Abstract: Sexual jokes constitute perhaps the greatest part of joke telling. This interest in the sexual problems is not by chance. It is rooted in the deep necessity of modern man of universal and stable identity marks. In this respect the subject of sexuality possesses an extremely powerful potential, since it is connected to the most general cultural; and human affiliation. The article makes a survey of some important authors and their works on contemporary attitude to sexuality and its discourse, as the basis of analysis of sexual jokes. On material of fieldwork records and printed publications the author examines the peculiarities of the joke interpretation of sex and follows the subjects and characters, through which it is realized. In its quality to provoke laughter, it is most generally characterized by a reversed look at sex and sexuality - the different sexual practices and forms of behavior are presented from the point of view of their impossibility and absurdity. The main conclusion is that despite all the variety of sexual manifestations in the joke, it still follows one main line - the line of productive and producing sex. This explains its fundamental meaning for the existence of man and culture.
