The stylistic Role of the Article in Romanian

Summary/Abstract: The present paper reveals an aspect of „expressive grammar”, being an investigation of a grammatical issue from the stylistic point of view, which is an eloquent interdisciplinary expression. By means of their semantic-expressive possibilities, all the lexical-grammatical classes build up their own stylistic fields. Due to its lack of independence and its morphemic role, the stylistic function of the article is reduced. The stylistic role of the article derives from the definite / indefinite content induced to the basic word, from its main use as principal noun-building means, from its possibility to obtain euphonic-prosodic effects through its enclitic position etc.
