Summary/Abstract: The act of playing involves actual manipulation of objects, but it is the situation in which the objects are used that makes them twofold – imaginary and real at the same time. The ability to understand and perform this transformation is essential to playing. The player is fully aware of the imaginary state of the situation that exists parallel to the physical here-and-now reality, but the emotions experienced are actual. Dialogue develops between players, players and objects and objects themselves, which act as distinct signs that are interpreted, contested, explained and forwarded to other players at any moment of playing on both levels.
