Summary/Abstract: Discusses the question if the towns of the transylvanian saxons have been ever granted municipal laws. The royal charter for Hermannstadt (Sibiu) from 1224 (Andreanum) can be considered a municipal law. The whole region around Hermannstadt can be identified in legal terms as municipal area (Weichbild). Controversial opinion exists on the question of the original right the transylvanian saxons brought to Transylvania. Their towns can not be attributed to a certain family of municipal laws. These laws adapted and compiled selcted elements of different municipal laws, but not the whole right. In Transylvania, the rights of big areas around the towns (fundus regius, Königsboden) was very similar to the one inside the towns. Therefore, a specific municipal law was not necessary.
