Disability-free life expectancy calculation by the Sullivan method

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses a method for calculating simultaneously the morbidity and the mortality in a given population. This method was first introduced by D. Sullivan. The ag¬gregate measure used to calculate the life in good health introduced by D. Sullivan is called Disability-Free Life Expectancy (abbreviated as DFLE). In the paper, the method was used to calculate DFLE for the Polish population for the year 2008. The computations are based on data published in the Polish statistical yearbooks.
