Summary/Abstract: The employment of people with disabilities in Croatia still does not have either a unified elaborated approach or a suitable organisational form through which the problem could be resolved in an appropriate way. The current situation in the field of employment is unsatisfactory, but the efforts being made in the direction of the relief of that situation are, however, visible. The legal innovations in connection with the issue are encouraging, especially those related to the creation of more suitable conditions for employment and work, as well as for the social integration of people with disabilities; i.e. those which are being established by the Law on vocational rehabilitation and employment (from 2002). So, we can rightfully conclude that persistent and hard work and engagement are required in the field of the employment of people with disabilities and the integration of this group of people into regular working conditions, in the field of the reduction of (their) social stigmatisation and, finally, in the field of raising awareness that people with disabilities can achieve professional success just like any other member of the social community.
