On Standardization of the Syntax

Summary/Abstract: This article briefly discusses a few problems related to the standardization of the syntax. Following the project supported by The State Commission of the Lithuanian Language, a research into the relationship between the norms of the Lithuanian language and recommendations for their present usage is being carried out. Even though it is still too early to generalize the findings, a few problems can already be raised: a lack of data of the syntax of dialects, little attention to the semantic functions of the sentence and their variations, insufficient orientation of the „Language Advice“ to the general public.
