Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses aspects related to the translation of documents belonging to the genre of the European legislation, focusing on the norms characterizing the speech acts specific to the English variants of these texts in comparison to their Romanian translated counterparts. The main purpose of this contrastive analysis is that of pointing to the problems that these norms might induce during the process of translating EU documents from English into Romanian.
