Summary/Abstract: This present study seeks to draw attention to the occurrence of Kontakion in Byzantine space. Unfortunately, the right knowledge of this history is doomed to fail as long as the past history of hymnography didn’t recorded any pattern to make the transition from a certain type to another, in our case from troparion to the new form by the St. Romanos the Melodist and implemented in manuscripts dating from the ninth century with the name of kontakion. With a history so remote and rich, kontakion raise today many questions: from etymology to the philological substrate, from components to the metric structure. However, the form and the message it sends, kontakion is nothing but a new form of plasticizer soteriological event that the Church transmits over two millennia.
