Summary/Abstract: The main aim of the article is to highlight the need to overcome the reductionism implied in the elementary view that human creatures can be controlled as though they were a resource. This reductionism leads to dehumanization of human relations in the modern attempt to include people in universal economical models. The different, humanistic way of thought recognizes there should be a change away from thinking in ersatzt terms such as „human resources“ (HR). This change of thought suggests that, instead of referring to human resources, we should refer to human relations and their construction, maintenance and development. Only in this way can something more than, and different from, the usual exploitation of human beings be achieved – masked as „optimization“, rationalization, or control of human resources.
