Summary/Abstract: In over one hundred years of existence (1905-2012), the research of medieval Wall Painting in Moldova made r apid and large progress, reaching nowadays the state of a perfectly formed discipline. It has not only a delineated object, but has developed the methods of investigation, has created its special resources for publicity and has increased the number of researchers who have enriched the literature of the discipline with numerous works. The European Value of Moldavian synthesis in the medieval art has been recognized of long standing by foreign specialists, who had the opportunity to study on site the memorials raised in the era of St. Stephen the Great and Petru Rares. In various studies, Byzantinologists, scholars and specialists from our country demonstrate, with scientific rigor, that the Moldavian medieval art is not, as some more inclined to believe, a secondary and provincial phenomenon of Byzantine art.
