The role of knowledge workers in the innovative activities of companies

Summary/Abstract: This article concerns innovation of companies analyzed from the point of view of innovation processes and the usage of external knowledge within these processes, as well as presents the importance of the so-called knowledge workers, who play the leading role in the innovative activities of the company. The paper considers the effectiveness in the process of innovation of both full-time employees as well as the knowledge workers coming from the academic environment. Effectiveness was evaluated in terms of the success of the innovation process, stimulated only by knowledge workers employed in companies and with so-called “external” knowledge workers.
