Summary/Abstract: Derrida’s preoccupation with names, with the rhetoric and with the name of names, recurs throughout his work. This essay follows the inscription of names, seeking to acknowledge that Derrida made a name for itself, made himself into a name, into names, thereby calling attention to the earliest of concerns (writing, paleonymy) as well as to the last and lasting (religion, death).
